The Launch of Literature at The Lantern: A Celebration of Jackie Collins

We recently launched our new event series Literature at The Lantern with ‘A Celebration of Jackie Collins’ and what a night it was!

In collaboration with Simon and Schuster UK publishers, we celebrated the relaunch of American Star, with a new introduction from best-selling author Isabelle Broom.

Naturally, the dress code was leopard print, just as Jackie would have wanted, and the attendees truly dazzled in their best outfits.

We kicked off the evening with some drinks and lively conversations with the fabulous authors in the room, which was followed by some great speeches.

Due to unfortunate circumstances, Jackie’s daughters could not be with us on the night, however Rory Green penned some beautiful words to be read:

…Our mother was a trailblazer in the true sense of the word. And while she had a whole lot of fun blazing that brilliant trail, she also tacked many obstacles along the way. She always held her own in the face of those who diminished her, those who disproved of her, and the moral literary elite who undoubtedly felt threatened by her boldness. She spoke her mind, believed in her own talent, and loved her characters and her readers in equal measure….

After this heartfelt tribute, we mingled some more before carriages at the end of the night.

Altogether, it was a lovely evening, and it was great to see our unique events venue buzzing with atmosphere.

Sara-Jade from Simon and Schuster said:

The team at Tonik were instrumental in bringing the leopard print celebration to life, were impeccable hosts, and made sure all our guests felt incredibly welcome. We couldn’t have asked for a more hospitable team, and are already looking forward to our next event with them in October with Eva Verde, Julie Haworth and Lucy Vine

Giveaway

We are fortunate enough to have some American Star and other Jackie Collins’ books left over from the event. So, we are going to giveaway a book to the people who sign up to our newsletter at the bottom of the page.

If there are more entries than books we have left, everyone who has signed up will be entered into a draw.
